Sound steamship GLEN COVE is in the Long Island History Room of the Glen Cove Public Library The Landing area is the oldest, most historical section of the City of Glen Cove. Prior to the railroad coming to the region in the 1850's, steamboats were the most convenient mode of transportation to get to what was once a very rural, sparsely populated Long Island. The first Steamboat dock and adjacent protective jetty were constructed in the 1830's. The Landing community was settled adjacent to the area of the steamboat dock, which was located in what is now Morgan's Park. Its unofficial boundaries include Landing Road, McLaughlin Street, Germaine Street and Ellwood Street, but have been known to extend to adjacent/additional local neighborhoods and roads.

Bob has generously donated his time, talent and plants to the Adopt-A-Spot on The Place and Ellwood St. We are very fortunate to have caring neighbors like Bob who give so much to the neighborhood. LPCA Meeting October 20, 2008 Special Guests: Assemblyman Chuck Lavine and State Senator Carl Marcellino Our representatives visited the Landing Pride group to provide information that would assist in achieving the association's goals. Senator Marcellino provided some information regarding 2-family homes being owner-occupied only under Town of Oyster Bay zoning codes, while Assemblyman Lavine offered "property manual handbooks" which have been provided by New York State to local jurisdictions as guidelines on how to write and enforce local codes. Landing News		Help Combat Graffiti The best way to rid the neighborhood of graffiti is to remove it quickly. Report graffiti to the Neighborhood Watch Committee or to the Glen Cove Police Department. Graffiti "tags" can represent individuals or gangs. We will post photos of graffiti so that the "tags" can be identified, which may help the authorities track down the sources. Our Mission The Landing Pride Civic Association is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt, charitable organization created by concerned citizens of the Landing community to monitor, improve and enforce local laws and codes within its boundaries and to ensure that quality of life issues are addressed and/or corrected and to create a renewed sense of pride in the area's residential neighborhoods. The Landing Pride Civic Association will: Serve as a forum to hear and address concerns of area residents and work together to restore pride in our beautiful, vibrant community Act as a watchdog group to ensure the city government and its officials enforce the law and address issues affecting the Landing Who May Join the Landing Pride Civic Association? Membership is limited to residents of the Landing area and surrounding neighborhoods such as Shorecrest and Morgan Park Estates. Other interested citizens who embrace our mission may join upon approval of the Executive Board. Dues of $35.00 per household are required for all members.
